My home continent of Europe offers boundless opportunities for the adventurous traveller. In the north there are surreal ice-scapes, photogenic fjords and temperamental volcanoes. Central Europe offers an abundance of history and culture, whilst the south serves up the legacy of the world’s most influential ancient civilizations - all bathed in Mediterranean sunshine. If you look hard enough there are still some hidden treasures to be uncovered as well as some newly independent countries putting their stamp on the map of the new Europe.

Europe has long been the powerhouse of impressive cultural and economic advancement. The ancient Greek and Roman civilisations are justly famous for their contributions in the fields of literature, fine art, philosophy, architecture, civic administration, and government.

Europe has seen its fair share of empire builders: Alexander the Great; the Romans and more recently the empires of the British, the Dutch and the Soviets - these have all come and gone. Today Europe is united and under one flag with one currency (apart from the UK), yet still offers the traveller a diversity of choice. Each country has its own distinct identity and fiercely protects and promotes its own cultural heritage.

Photographs are in the gallery and there are plenty more to follow.
